To qualify you must pass a water skill check, meet medical requirements and fill out a liability release. After completing the course, guests will be allowed one tank dive (of approx. 30ft) per day. Whether you are a certified diver or not, you must meet medical requirements before diving. If you have a medical condition that is outlined on the form, you must have a doctor sign off on it and bring it to the resort. However, the dive instructors at our resorts have the final approval on whether or not a guest is considered fit to dive.
Certified divers are allowed one two-tank dive or two single dives a day. There's no diving on day of departure. All our dives range from 20 to 90 feet.
If you are a certified diver and the instructor feels you need to take a refresher course, there will be an additional $50.00 per person for the 1.5 hour course. As per PADI standards this will allow you to dive as a certified diver.

Beaches Resorts In Jamaica:

Beaches Turks & Caicos Reviews Water Activities: Scuba diving at Turks and Caicos was unbelievable. I got certified down there which took much longer than they said it would and really ate into my vacation time but it was worth it. I saw sharks, sea turtles, barracuda's and beautiful coral reefs each time we went out. I would recommend you get certified (if your not already) at home rather than do it here because it does take time away from your vacation. In addition to the scuba diving being included, there are also snorkel boats which go out twice a day. Overall the water activities were great and if taken advantage of would make the cost of this resort more palatable. We booked a boat trip through beaches which took us to Iguana Island, and another small island where we collected shells, and a 20 minute snorkel. They charged $75 pp. This was a waste of money, Iguana island is just that, a small island with a few iguana's and we could have collected shells at the resort. The snorkeling could also be done at the resort as part of the all inclusive price. I went with my wife, two kids age 10 and 12, my brother and his wife and four kids age 1, 3, 5 and 10. Overall the Beaches Hotel was very nice, well maintained. Not especially fancy or huge. Our airport transfers were easy. Check-in was quick. The room was nice and big with cable TV. There is wireless internet access in the lobby, but it only occationally worked. There is a beautiful beach, many nice pools, a great kids area with small waterslides. Free baby sitting. Several nice restauraunts.
We went scuba diving daily on the boat right at the hotel. The diving is free, but the free trips tend to be overbooked. We had to pay in order to get on the training boats for the first few days. You need to sign up for the entire week the first day you are there to get a spot each day. I was disappointed that they took us to the same area on the reef every day we were there. They also are very safety conscious, so the dives are mostly shallow and short.
They have free catamaran to sail, kayaks, masks and snorkels and fins to borrow. Basketballs, volley balls etc were available. We saw people riding horses on the beach at the hotel. The night life seemed abscent. Most hotels have shows at night, but we never found any good shows. |
