The uniquely charming Island of Grand Turk is the capital of the Turks and Caicos Islands and has been the seat of government since 1766. Approximately 7.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, Grand Turk, is best known for its provision of spectacular diving, fishing and sailing. The island exhibits distinctive Bermudian British colonial architecture reminiscent of the early salt and colonial era. Places to see in Grand Turk include the Turks and Caicos National Museum which houses the remnants of the Molasses Reef Wreck, the oldest shipwreck to be discovered in the western hemisphere along with other artifacts pertaining to the history of the islands, the 150 plus year old Lighthouse located on the North-East point of the island, and Front Street with its old world charm and 18th century architecture gives visitors a glimpse into the island’s past.
The island has an amazing protected area of Coral reefs that drop 8000 ft. It is easily understandable why this island stands as one of the world’s first class dive destinations.

There are so many local dishes that you must try, like conch fritters, conch stew, chicken and pork souse, lobster salad and so many more.
Its a wonderful get away from the stressful business world, you can simply go free and relax in the crystle clear waters! and a wonderful place for filming, about 10 well known movies were shot there in the TCI. So in a nutshell its a "MUST"!!!!!!! |

“Great Diving!” Grand Turk DivingHad a fantastic diving experience with Grand Turk Diving. Great diving spots are only a short boat ride way, and groups are small, which enhances the diving experience. Both Smitty and Al are great dive masters, and know the area intimately. A brief synopsis of the diving area before each dive clearly heightens the diving experience.
For those who do not dive Grand Turk Diving also offers snorkeling excursions. Two of our group snorkel only, so we decided to take an afternoon snorkeling trip. I must say, GTDiving not only knows the best diving spots, but offers great snorkeling areas too.
GTDiving is a very professionally run business. Not only do I applaud both Smitty and Al for offering the best diving experience on Grand Turk, but Joanna, the office manager certainly deserves kudos too! It has been restored and still works guarding the northern tip of Grand Turk, the capital island of the Turks and Caicos. The lighthouse and lighthouse keeper’s house is a prized historic site and is protected by the National Trust. The Lighthouse provides some shade, a picnic area and an excellent viewing spot for the whales in February and March. The lighthouse hill overlooks North Creek, an inland body of water or lake that a growing number of historians argue is the closest fit to the description that Columbus gave for the island that he first encountered on his 1492 voyage to the New World.
